Title: Mapping and multiplerepresentations of contextual problems as alternative ways of learning about functions Author: AfamasagaFuata'i, Karoline Subject: MathematicsStudy and teaching (Secondary) Concept learning Volume: Directions: Journal of Educational Studies no.38, vol.20, no.1, 1998 Collation: p. 7487 ; Abstract: The author, an indigenous mathematics educator, offers suggestions regarding ways of improving mathematics achievement. One is by actively situating one’s knowledge of a piece of mathematics within a network of conceptual interconnections that can ultimately expand to reflect the conceptual structure of mathematics within a unit. Another way is by persistently looking for multiple ways of representing given information to gain a more holistic and complete picture of the situation.
