AuthorTewareka, Beta
SubjectEducation, Higher|Kiribati
AbstractThis paper highlights some major problems and needs of the national post-secondary training institutions in Kiribati and attempts to seek alternatives that will not only improve their operation and management systems for quality outputs, but also, equally important, improve and increase opportunities for and access to higher education. To this end, the paper looks at some more innovative approaches to education, such as open and flexible learning and forming partnerships between the providers and stakeholders, government and the private sectors, the home and the school. The paper then discusses the prospects of meeting the everincreasing training needs of today and also of preparing our children for the even greater challenges of the 21st Century.
