Abstract: Indigenous knowledge is seldom valued. In recent years, however, grassroots communities worldwide are exploring alternatives to the monocultural paradigms in school curricula. Indigenous knowledge systems must be recognised by teachers as a valuable resource that students bring to the classroom.
